MEYER NEPTUN Engineering starts with pioneer team

Rostock, January 6, 2022 – As a start-up with eight employees, MEYER NEPTUN Engineering began work on its first projects at the beginning of 2022. The team will grow to more than 50 engineers in the coming months.

The first employees are now initially performing pioneering work. „MEYER NEPTUN Engineering is a start-up where the employees also help shape the structure of the company. At the same time, we have the security of already having projects within the MEYER Group that will provide engineering work in the years to come,“ says Malte Poelmann, Managing Director of MEYER NEPTUN Engineering.

For the new employees, an induction period in Rostock as well as an intensive exchange phase with the existing engineering teams in Papenburg are now scheduled.

Important tasks for the shipping of the future

The new competence center will develop particularly innovative solutions for shipbuilding. The focus will be on the development of climate-friendly propulsion systems, plus sustainable solutions as retrofits for existing fleets, research vessels and offshore facilities. „Our tasks are a unique combination of concrete ship projects and pioneering research and development work. For this, we continue to look for talents who want to shape the shipping of the future with us,“ describes Managing Director Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz.

With MEYER NEPTUN Engineering, the MEYER Group has established a new competence center for special ships at the NEPTUN WERFT 2021 site. „This is an investment in the future of Germany as a shipbuilding location as a whole. Our choice for Rostock results from the maritime know-how of the region with a strong network of medium-sized partner companies, the proximity to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the University of Rostock and the proximity to NEPTUN WERFT,“ says Malte Poelmann.
